CURRENT TOP VOLUNTEER NEEDS
Position: Marketing/Communications Committee Co-chair (MARCOM)
Type: Volunteer Role
Availability: Minimum 4-6 hours per month
Location: Remote – work from home, and attend meetings as required
As a small charitable non-profit organization looking to grow we need your help! Friends of the Grand River does amazing work, but we need help telling our story! We are looking for someone to help us develop and implement a marketing and communication plan moving forward. This would include traditional and social media marketing. This role would co-chair the MARCOM committee with a member of the board of directors. We are looking for someone who is able to spend 4-6 hours per month really building their own vision for the MARCOM strategy and executing it for our organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop an annual MARCOM plan leveraging social media, website, events on an approved marketing budget
- Develop communication content to satisfy the needs of varied stakeholders
- Support the MARCOM committee in the recruitment of other volunteer committee members as needed
- Work with other volunteers and other committees on the execution of a plan as required
- Build an online presence strategy (manage website + social channels)
Qualifications
- Marketing and communications experience (education or work experience)
- Understanding of the print media, local and GTA, and social media landscape
- Willingness to learn the platforms and the organization
- Personal belief in the mission of FOGR
- Willingness to work with many volunteers and stakeholders
- Ability to commit the time required
About Friends of the Grand River
Friends of the Grand River (FOGR) is a charitable organization that has been stewarding the upper section of the Grand River since 1988. The organization is made up of a volunteer board of directors and countless other volunteers that help us achieve our mission which includes garbage clean up, trail maintenance, tree planting, fish stocking, water studies and advocacy for a healthy river and environment.
